Maximise the performance of your battery.

Batteries do not last forever, but you can help them retain their charge for longer, by taking note of the following information.

1. You will need to charge/discharge a battery upto 4 cycles before it achieves full charge capacity.
2. Fully discharge and then fully charge your battery every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain full charge capacity.
3. Run your laptop under the batterys power until it shuts down or you get a low battery warning. Then recharge as instructed in your owners manual.
4. Remove the battery and store in a dry, cool place if the battery will not be used for a month or longer.
5. Fully recharge the battery after storage.

The cycle life is measured by the amount of times a battery may be charged and discharged. Every time a battery is charged and discharged, it uses one cycle. Cycle life is very important in battery applications such as laptop batteries and emergency light batteries. A Ni-Cd battery has a cycle life of 500-1000 cycles, or more.
